One of the hardest challenges for college students to overcome is keeping a clean room. Having a clean room to study, relax and sleep in can make a big difference in your satisfaction with your first year. Unfortunately, the most powerful tool for keeping a fresh room, the open window, isn’t an option for most of the year due to Rochester’s weather. With a few helpful tips, you can have a delightful room without piling onto the stress of college.
When there are events for students on campus late at night or during inconvenient hours, commuters may often feel left out at RIT. Sometimes seen as an escape from the cost of living on campus, commuting can mean being left out of some of RIT student life. According to U.S. News and World Report college rankings, 47 percent of students live off campus and commute to campus. As of fall 2013, this means that approximately 8,597 RIT students commuted to school.

'Tis the season for goblins, ghouls and mischievous spirits to take the spotlight; however, Halloween isn't the only time restless souls wander the streets of Rochester. Far from it, in fact; ghostly legends of demons and the damned linger in the air throughout the city and its suburbs. In places hidden in plain sight, the shadows of lonesome ghosts may still creep across the unassuming walls and dimly lit corners. The Rochester Rundel Library 115 South Avenue

It can be any street corner in America. Any abandoned warehouse, any half decayed picket fence. Often chalked up to petty and rebellious teen antics or establishing gang territory, the art of graffi ti perseveres through its gritty exterior. Few and far between pieces glimmer with vibrant neon colors and deep charcoal outlines against the drab concrete backdrop, all through the rattles of Rust-O-Leum spray cans.
When a room is quiet, there’s an uncomfortable stillness in the air. High, electronic whines press in on our ears and make the enclosed spaces we live in feel even smaller. With a short trip over the Genesee River at Brookdale Preserve, however, I found the escape we so often need from the hum of everyday life.

4/5 Stars Yes, you read that correctly. Michael Cera, the “Juno” actor and professional woman and child lookalike, came out with an album this summer. His 18-track, seven-dollar album is available for purchase or listening through bandcamp, and it might actually be worth your time. The album, and a few songs in particular, is surprisingly pleasant.
Why would you home-brew? It’s a question that seems complicated, with a response that would theoretically be filled with snobby references to unidentifiable flavors, loose throwing around of the word “passion” and of course, plenty of mustache curling.

2.5/5 stars Released in February, “A Journey Too Far” is the fifth LP by Nostalgia77. The album has a distinctive big-band sound, while combining other genres such as swing and reggae, and features horns, snare and soft female vocals. “A Journey Too Far” offers very easy listening, so much so that the music quickly becomes boring, the simple jazz reminiscent of mall music.
