Student Government (SG) welcomed their SG counterparts from the international RIT campuses at their Oct. 2 meeting. SG discussed AI use with the Provost, outlined main campus SG for the international SG representatives and confirmed the NTID Student Congress (NSC) Vice President.
AI Discussion
Prabu David, RIT’s Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, opened a “listening session” and asked for SG’s input on how AI use in RIT curricula should be handled. Several members of SG raised concerns about transparency regarding when AI could be used. Others asked about the educational value of a class that allows AI use. David did not provide any direct answers.
SG Consortium
SG welcomed a group of SG representatives from each RIT campus. The representatives sat in on the meeting.
Yasmine Ibrahim, SG President and Hasan Bodlah, Director of Partnership and Governance, gave a presentation about RIT’s main campus. The two highlighted RIT’s unique architecture, student organizations and NTID.
NSC Confirmation
Although NSC has their own internal elections, SG must confirm anyone in an RSO position before they are officially a sitting member of SG.
Giovanna Perepelkin, a second year cross-registered SOIS student was confirmed as NSC Vice President.
