A high shot on RIT's net had knocked off the water bottle holder above the net, and it looked like it would keep spinning indefinitely on the nearly frictionless ice. The fans were not disappointed for too long though, because they had really come to see the hockey game – and it was a good game to watch.

The question “Are you deaf?” became the question “Are you hearing?” the second I stepped into the Gordon Field House on September 21. I was greeted — in ASL — by the brothers of the Sigma Nu fraternity and the sisters of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority asking if I was registered as I tried to say that I could not sign at all. While in line, all instructions were communicated in ASL as I directed myself to the registration booth. Accompanied by two interpreters, I went on my way.

Of the many perils of college life, few are as feared as the freshman fifteen. Whether you were a star athlete in high school or you are starting with a few fifteens to lose, you’re going to want to be mindful about your health and the notoriously unhealthy college lifestyle of late-night study sessions and “devil may care” cafeteria food nutrition.
“Cute girl.” “Everything's got a price. How much you want for the lady?” “I'll give $1 for the lady.” “C'mon man she's worth more than that. $2.” With a few grammatical edits, this is how the comment stream proceeded on the RIT Free & For Sale Facebook page this past Tuesday. Recently, the RIT community has seen an exponential growth in anonymous pages dedicated to complimenting, admiring and laughing with (or in some cases at) fellow students. Each has its own focus and each has pros and cons both for the readers and those who run the pages.
“Anonymity is really one of the hallmarks of the internet. A lot of people see it as one of the internet’s biggest strengths,” said Patrick Scanlon, chairman of the Department of Communications at RIT. Websites that highlight the internet’s capacity for promoting anonymity tend to provoke strong reactions from their users and readers alike.
