Editor's Note: Paper Petals

They see me.
They see me not.
Write another paper, hand it in.
They see me.
They see me not.
Take another exam, hand it in.
They see me.
They see me not.
Write an application. Submit it. Maybe it’s for grad school or a full time job. The goal is to stand out, to catch someone’s eye.
This is no easy task. With summer just a few months away, what was once a tantalizing career crush, turns into labored application submissions for furthered education, internships, co ops or full time opportunities.
We pluck at paper petals stemming from hard work, one at a time, with each piece of work we submit or application we send out. We watch intention leave the safety of our palms, and hope it will take root and blossom.
Eventually, a company gets back to you, maybe even two. You are going to have to make some very important decisions about your future — academic advisors and career counselors at the ready, prepared to discuss the arrangements. You may even find yourself seeking the advice of professors or class colleagues whom you’ve grown to hold to such esteem. At RIT, you are exposed to an array of critical thinkers. The opportunities here will immerse you in a surrounding soil enriched with mineral curricula, the minutia of which are thought out so as to carry us to graduation harvest.
The university has shed a spotlight on you. Will you branch out?
