About Reporter

Reporter Magazine is RIT’s only student-run news organization.

Reporter publishes a monthly magazine during the academic year and posts daily online and on social media. Our coverage is independent of any external organization or interests and is not subject to review by the university.

Why Join?

The Reporter is committed to covering the most pressing issues in our community. Our community is not limited to campus, either. At Reporter, student work has the potential to reach an audience in our community and effect change. Reporter is a fast-paced newsroom setting, where students can work in a professional environment and gain practical experience.

Student journalism plays a key role in holding institutions accountable, amplifying student voices and documenting campus life as it unfolds. It empowers students to ask hard questions, explore underreported issues and build the skills needed for careers in media and beyond.

Do I Get Paid?

Yes. Reporter is a part-time job. Writers, photographers, designers, artists and more have the opportunity to earn a paycheck to create content. Reporter is a community of students from various fields working together on multimedia storytelling.
