If you walked by the Gordon Field House on September 28, you might have heard a few screams, plenty of cheers, a lot of whistle blowing and quite a bit of commotion. The women's soccer game between the RIT Tigers and the SUNY Genesseo Knights ultimately ended in a scoreless tie that was only achieved through each team fighting valiantly and aggressively.

The game began with each team looking refreshed and focused. The ball was not dominated by either side and switched up and down the field often. RIT outshot Geneseo 7-2, with plenty of amazing saves by the Knights goalie, fourth year Julia Sanger. By the end of the first half, RIT appeared tired and allowed the ball on their end of the field a little more often, but Genesseo remained unable to score and did not often make it past the Tigers' defense.

The start of the second half seemed much like the first. Both teams were rejuvenated and the ball was not dominated by either. This half became much more physical as both team fought to score. RIT received three fouls against them and was called for being offsides twice, while Geneseo likewise racked up three fouls, but no offside calls.

Overtime was intense. The crowd was stomping, cheering and shouting instructions to both players and referees as the two teams battled. After two overtime periods, the game finally ended with a tie at zero; both teams smiled and shook hands, congratulating each other on a game well played.

RIT was given three offside calls during the game and took 14 shots to Genesseo's 12. Five of RIT's 14 shots were taken by third year Biomedical Photography major and forward/midfielder Sierra Kiss, who led the team in overall shots and shots on goal for the game.

RIT Women's Soccer plays at home next on October 12 at 1 p.m. against St. Lawrence University.
