Men's
RIT vs. Haverford (11/16)
RIT's men's basketball team has had a great start to their season with a current standing of 2-0 following a 71-62 win against Haverford College and bringing the title home from the 23rd Annual Equinox Classic. Scoring was led by first year Business major AJ Horde, who scored 22 points, and third year Multi-Disciplinary Studies major JP Reagan, who scored 16 points as well as pushing the Tigers forward with 15 rebounds.
The Tigers shot 45.8 percent from the floor on 27-of-59 shooting, making 8-of-26 from behind the arc and 9-of-18 from the foul line, ultimately taking home the title of All-Tournament Team.
Women's
RIT vs. Washington & Jefferson (11/16)
In contrast to a strong beginning of the season for the men's team, RIT's women's basketball team is off to somewhat of a shaky start with a 1-1 standing after their 71-69 loss against Washington & Jefferson in the title game of the Penn State-Behrend Tip-Off Tournament. Key players during the game included fourth year Interdisciplinary Studies major Merissa Maiorano, who led the team with 20 points on 10-of-15 shooting, and third year Biomedical Engineering major Ashlynn Palmitesso, who scored 15 points.
Despite the loss, RIT still shot 39.4 percent from the floor on 28-of-71 shooting on top of being 9-of-18 from the foul line and making 4 of 15 three-pointers.
RIT Hockey
Men's
RIT vs. Canisius (11/15)
After some disappointing losses, RIT's men's hockey team was able to put itself back on the boards this past Saturday, Nov. 15, on the road in a 3-0 shutout match against league rivals Canisius College. Playing incredibly defensively throughout the duration of the game, only allowing 19 total shots from Canisius, the Tigers pulled off a performance that makes their recent losses seem like a distant memory and points toward a hopeful rest of the season.
Fourth year Psychology major Jordan Ruby blocked all 19 shots he faced in a stellar game, while fourth year Business Management major Matt Garbowski scored big and brought the Tigers to a 3-6-2, 2-4-2 AHC record against Canisius' 4-5-3, 3-3-2 AHC. RIT ultimately out-shot Canisius 29-19.
Women's
RIT vs. Penn State (11/15)
RIT's women's hockey team (6-5-3, 1-2-1 CHA) played an impressive match against Penn State (6-6-3, 1-2-1 CHA) this past Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Gene Polessini Center, but ultimately lost 3-2. This loss marks the first time the Tigers have lost in 14 all-time matches against the Nittany Lions. Despite the disappointing loss, however, the Tigers still played a great game and pulled off some killer performances.
Fourth year Finance major Ali Binnington, who is currently playing her last season for the Tigers, pulled off a whopping 28 saves for RIT. Fourth year Sociology andAnthropology major Celeste Brown scored big for the Tigers coming off of a tremendous pass from fourth year Psychology major Kolbee McCrea.
