Op-Ed Submission Guidelines
Submission Received
-Letters to the Editor and unsolicited Op-Eds are submitted via Reporter Magazine’s official email account: reporter@rit.edu
-All submissions must include the writer’s full name, contact information and any relevant affiliation (e.g., student, faculty, alumnus).
-Letters must contain supporting details and facts, rather than assertions or statements. They must also be a maximum of 3 pages in length in document form.
Initial Review by Editor-in-Chief (EIC)
-The EIC reviews the submission for relevance, clarity, tone, and alignment with Reporter Magazine’s editorial standards.
-The EIC decides whether the piece will be accepted, rejected or returned with suggested revisions for resubmission.
A disclaimer must be included with all outside submissions stating:
“This piece is an outside submission. The views expressed in this piece do not necessarily reflect those of Reporter Magazine or its staff.”
Publication
-The edited and approved Op-Ed or Letter to the Editor is scheduled for print and/or digital publication in the next appropriate issue.
-The writer is notified of the publication date and provided a link or PDF of the issue once published.
